A mile down the road a rocky outcrop captures my attention. Perhaps a decent scene can be found on the other side. I follow a small dirt trail that cuts a path through two monuments of stone. I hoist myself up, landing in a pocket of granite and trees. Encased by the branches of meandering pine, I squeeze the legs of the tripod together on a small patch of earth. Below, the lights of the casinos sparkle like jewels, carpeting the forest with rivers of light. Nightfall has drained the light from my lens, leaving the meter bordering on low. A click of the shutter and it all fades away, lost to the darkness of the fast falling night.
